Kowalski kielbasa, honey glazed ham, and hot dogs are often taken for granted nowadays by Michiganders ... that is, until you move out of state and can't find a good hot dog anymore! And when it comes to authentic pierogi, you can't beat Srodek's (also found in Kowalski stores). I am also a big fan of Win Schuler's tasty chips and cheeses. Yum!

Vernor's definitely belongs on your list. It was a real treat to go downtown by the Detroit River and have a Boston Cooler at Vernor's. The plant was located near the Bob-lo boat docks. Years later a modern plant was constructed on Woodward close to Wayne State University. I have a wooden case used for bottles of Vernor's - no cans then. O M G am I old.
